WOMADelaide 2018

WOMADelaide 2017 marked the 25th anniversary and was more special than ever highlighted by some powerful female performances by Oumou Sangare, Nattali Rize, Aziza Brahim and Inna Modja plus the amazing energy of La Mambanegra, Bamba Wassoulou Groove and Lamine Sonko as well as the class and farce of Emir Kusturica and the No Smoking Orchestra, Baba Zula and a good sing along to the Specials amongst a myriad of other great acts.

WOMADelaide Festival 2016 as already been and gone and another great time was had by all. Once again amazing weather, people and performances with a cold Coopers never tasting better and Asian Dub Foundation to blow us all away to finish things off!!

WOMADelaide Festival 2015 was another amazing experience with great crowds and beautiful weather. Among the memorable performances I witnessed were Youssou N'Dour, Neneh Cherry, Sinead O'Connor, Jupiter & Okwess International, The Malawi Mouse Boys, Bombino and Toumani & Sidiki Diabate. The highlight for me however was seeing the Buena Vista Social Club Orchestra two nights running on their final World Tour.

WOMADelaide 2014 presented a fresh challenge as a cracked shutter ended the life of my Nikon D7000 on the first night. I therefore had to revert to my Nikon F100 and film. I managed to acquire a few extra boxes from a great shop in the heart of Adelaide and adjust my mindset accordingly. My stand out performers were Femi Kuit & the Positive Force, Aireleke, Asif Ali Khan, Rachid Taha, Hangaii with the musical highlight being the unbelievable Roberto Fonseca.
